National Holocaust Monument

TAP led the design team that created one of six shortlisted public art proposals for the National Holocaust Monument in Ottawa.

Monolithic concrete walls form twenty-two passages, each representing a country where Jewish communities suffered during the Holocaust. With only one visitor able to pass through each gap at a time, explorations of the monument become a deeply personal and reverent ritual.

This two-stage international competition called for Canadian-led submissions from the world’s leading architects, landscape architects, designers, and artists.

The voyage the visitor makes through these foils is one each must take alone.
